Irenic Thoughts

Irenic. The word means peaceful. This web log (or blog) exists to create an ongoing, and hopefully peaceful, series of comments on the life of King of Peace Episcopal Church. This is not a closed community. You are highly encouraged to comment on any post or to send your own posts.

What do you need to stop?

As you only have so much time to spend, an important part of deciding what you would like to do is deciding what you need to stop.

Business guru Jim Collins has written of this in describing an encounter very influential to him. In a USA Todaycarticle Collins said he learned the importance of occasionally asking yourself, "What things, even good things, do I need to stop doing, in order to make room in my life for the things that will make the biggest difference over the long haul?"

For example, spending time with people you love is one great way to make a difference over the long haul. The questions are: What matters to you? What ways of spending your time and energy will most matter over the long haul? What do you want to do more of? What do you need to stop doing in order to make that happen?
