Irenic Thoughts

Irenic. The word means peaceful. This web log (or blog) exists to create an ongoing, and hopefully peaceful, series of comments on the life of King of Peace Episcopal Church. This is not a closed community. You are highly encouraged to comment on any post or to send your own posts.

Follow in the Footsteps

God Almighty, Eternal, Righteous, and Merciful, give to us poor sinners to do for thy sake all that we know of thy will, and to will always what pleases thee, so that inwardly purified, enlightened, and kindled by the fire of the Holy Spirit, we may follow in the footprints of thy well-beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
—St. Francis of Assisi.

Tomorrow at 9:30 a.m., King of Peace will take part (as we have for years) in an annual Blessing of the Animals in St. Marys. We will meet at the gazebo in the Waterfront Park for a brief service of blessing for the pets who bless us every day.

I will be blessing animals together with Fr. Gabe Cummings of Our Lady Star of the Sea and the Rev. Verdell Griffin of Wheeler Street Church of God. Come and bring your pets. I will bless the dogs and cats and leave the iguanas and snakes to the others. :-)
