Irenic Thoughts

Irenic. The word means peaceful. This web log (or blog) exists to create an ongoing, and hopefully peaceful, series of comments on the life of King of Peace Episcopal Church. This is not a closed community. You are highly encouraged to comment on any post or to send your own posts.

Blessing of the Animals

After all the rain we have had this week, I thought we would be reduced to blessing only goldfish by today. But the rain abated and though the attendance was, well, dampened, a number of hardy souls came with their pets to the waterfront for the service. Father Gabe sprinkled lots of holy water while I prayed, trying not to pray up a storm.

Father Gabe Cummings and myself finished with a dash over the the Humane Society in Kingsland where we blessed all the animals.

How come you didn't just bless the *clouds*? Then like, all the water would be Holy, and then you wouldn't even have to go.
hee! My mother says I should stop it with these jokes, I say she doesn't know anything (Catholic).

    Denise,

King of Peace is a melting pot of various religions. I would be careful who you put down, even if it is with humor. Somebody may get offended.

Hmmmmmmmmmm...The priest pictured above with Father Frank is a Catholic priest and the president of the Humane Society is also a Catholic who attends his church.

It is a beautiful act of compassion that they take the time to personally bless and care for all of God's creation.
