Irenic Thoughts

Irenic. The word means peaceful. This web log (or blog) exists to create an ongoing, and hopefully peaceful, series of comments on the life of King of Peace Episcopal Church. This is not a closed community. You are highly encouraged to comment on any post or to send your own posts.

Our Busy Neighborhood

I'm not referring to the neighborhood of King of Peace, though the morning and afternoon traffic in front of the church can get heavy. Instead, I am thinking of here in the neighborhood of Irenic Thoughts and busy this area can be. I'm not making a religious tie in here, but sharing more of the cultural phenomenon that surrounds us in the blogoshpere.

The first is the ability to watch the blogs flow by. The folks at Blogger.com have created a way to play Blogger images being uploaded to their site. Blogger Play shows a never-ending stream of images that were just uploaded to public Blogger blogs. You can see the many sights/sites by clicking this image:

The other thing happening in our Blogger neighborhood is at one of the most popular blogs in our corner of the blogosphere. Here at Irenic Thoughts, about 300 people drop in a day, for about 100,000 visits a year. But PostSecret has had over 100 million visits to its page which is updated every Sunday. Here are two heartbreaking examples of what real people are sharing there:

Warning: The site is PG-13.

Now for something more spiritual. It's not here a blogger.com, but it is out on the web from a neighbor in a Diocese of Georgia sense:

Father Steve on prayer as being like an old couple.
