A Siberian Messiah?
Over at The Washington Post and Newsweek's online forum, On Faith, they are talking about the latest would-be Messiah. His name is Sergei Torop and he has roughly 5,000 disciples in Siberia. You can read an interview with the alternate Jesus here: Jesus of Siberia.
As I once preached in the sermon, A Messiah and King Above All Others, Jesus has never been the only contender as The Messiah. But there are reasons to know that Jesus is The One. As Bishop N.T. Wright says, this new guy is either deluded or a hoax. I agree. What do you think?

"Reincarnatation" of Jesus? "Visionary"? Give me a break! The only reason this guy hallucinates, I mean, has "visions" is because his vegan diet is probably not substantial enough to sustain healthy brain activity.

LOL anonymous. I couldn't stomach the interview past the third paragraph. Mighty convenient he looks "a lot" like the picture white man has painted of Jesus, though.

He does make a very "pretty Jesus". I just don't think that Jesus would come back looking like He did over 2000 years ago, unless of course, this is the second coming and He just appeared from the Kingdom. Was there another Virgin Birth that took place without us knowing? :) If that were true, Jesus would probably look more like the present culture.
